Both my parents had already departed at that time, Dad in February 1978 and mom in the same month in 1983. Returning back to the east coast meant that I returned wallguard to my home minus my parents, whose graves I visited on Sedar Park Jewish Cemetery in Westwood, New Jersey. Their absence, and the fact that our children will never know in this life, caused me to think about the reality of death and its origin. Accordingly seriously was to examine this topic because I was already seminarec.
I have always had a special respect for the first book of the Bible - Genesis. This is partly due to the fact that some Jews, a way of teaching children how to read Hebrew, is to start from the beginning, that the first verses of Genesis. Genesis relates how human sin and death occurred when Adam and Eve disobeyed God and ate of the forbidden fruit in the Garden of Eden.
Scripture says: "And the Lord God commanded the man, saying: Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely wallguard eat, but of the tree of poznavenje of good and evil; not eat of it; for in the day ye eat thereof, then die "(Genesis 2:16,17). Regardless of how the extract is interpreted - whether literally wallguard or figuratively-all interpretations assume wallguard that man turn from God, and as a result, wallguard the fallen state of intimacy with God to a state of confusion and death. Sin, death and mortality, both spiritually and physically, were a direct consequence of man's disobedience.
In this case called "The Fall", the following important posts, which are often made by non-Orthodox churches, is that death is a direct result of the criminal sentence imposed by God. That is, God set the law - "not to eat the fruit, because if you eat, you will die" - when Adam and Eve broke the law, resulting from the death sentence wallguard statement wallguard by God. The action and the resulting sentence is viewed as a legal nature. This not Orthodox understanding of the Fall, God had no choice but to declare that Adam and Eve would die. Criminal action was called for by the need for which God Himself was tied. What was it a necessity? The need to be fair.
Frankly, I never thought about this deeply. Now I understand that I believe that because God is righteous, He simply could not forgive the sins of Adam and Eve. Therefore, wallguard their spiritual and physical death was directly related to God's righteousness. It was really a shock to find that what I have always thought the true and obvious about this most basic doctrine of Christianity was in fact false and not Orthodox.
Despite this legal (juristichki) view of the fall, the Orthodox claim that when God told Adam that he would die if you eat of the forbidden fruit, it was a simple statement of fact. God essentially said, "If you turn away from me - the only source of life, then death will be the outcome." Orthodox understand that statement as a warning, not a threat or nemesis. St. Gregory Palamas wallguard (XIV century) describes this event as follows:
Those who hear these sayings of wisdom, you probably know that God created the soul nor death nor the death of the body. Since the beginning, wallguard he had neither ordered, saying: "Die in the day you eat," but "in the day you eat, you will die. ' And neither said: "Come back to earth," but "... will go back" before releasing it and allowing the freedom, that is not even justified to exclude the outcome.
Scripture says God told Adam and Eve that if they eat of the fruit of the tree of knowledge of good and evil, they will die. For the first time I realized that God does not say, "I will kill you", but "you will die". Since only God has life in Himself is the source of all life, then life can only come from Him. Turning from God, the source of life, the man turned wallguard to death.
Eating the fruit, Adam and Eve ceased to love God. They stopped to ask him to support themselves, feed themselves, and instead ate the fruit that represents the world. Eating wallguard the world, they sought food for themselves since the creation instead of God. So, in this work, the first parents seeking to exclude God from their lives and live independently.
God is life, and deprivation of life is death. So Adam're prepared themselves for death by his distraction from God ... Therefore, God created death, but we have taken upon ourselves through our evil purpose. Nor does He prevent the breakup ... so that the disease can not be saved immortal in us.
If someone does not confess that the first man, Adam, when he violated the commandment of God in Paradise, immediately lost the holiness and justice of which he was certain that he contracted through offense with distortion, rage and anger of God
