Work on standards for "reduction to a minimum movement of pests and container shipping facilities in international trade" are on track, and others at a less advanced stage, have been undertaken on similar standards for air containers and aircraft, said the IPPC Secretariat Committee on Sanitary and Phytosanitary Measures (SPS) of the WTO.

(IPPC said the figure in the report was wrong and that the projected deficit was actually 1.2 million for 2011.)
IPPC stated that the standards movement of container pests and means of maritime transport in international trade could be completed within two to three years. A number of other standards are also being developed.
The IPPC has also indicated that its non-binding dispute settlement system was activated for the first time. South Africa confirmed that it had raised questions in relation to citrus exports to the EU.
