Now, imagine atmosphere to be consisted out of layers (and it really is). Than, imagine a sandwich.

We've had lentils, popcorn, fish skeletons, anvils, streets, waves, udders (pardon me!), flags and all other sorts of unusual clouds here, over at Meteo Beauty. I actually wanted to show you two additionally amazing road ready cases cloud formations but this post will be mainly focused on one cloud shape + at the end, I'll mention the second one as well. There's road ready cases this entire ZOO above our heads , simply drifting throughout the sky - without a care in the world. Don't believe me? Than believe your own eyes. Behold, the Jellyfish Cloud ! Yes, seriously, a jellyfish could exists and I'll try to roughly explain how it forms. I'm personally very intrigued by this sort of cloud, especially because I've never observed it with my naked eye. Could you imagine how frustrating it is for a meteorological observer to see these magnificent creations - only via internet? I summon all cloud spirits to send a big, juicy, special cloud my way. We'll see if that happens. Now, regarding this jellyfish cloud - it is actually a relatively rarely seen Altocumulus castellanus cloud. Do you remember how I've showed you the division of clouds by height? We have low level clouds (Cumulus, Stratus etc.), medium level clouds (Altocumulus, Altostratus etc.) and high level clouds (Cirrus, Cirrocumulus etc.). Altocumulus castellanus belongs in the medium cloud bracket and it differs from other Altocumulus clouds due to its tower-like projections that billow upwards from the base of the cloud.  I have a doubt regarding these jellyfish creations road ready cases being described as Altocumulus castellanus clouds in the first place but I 'll get to that later.
Imamo tzv. niske oblake (Cumulus, Stratus itd.), srednje oblake (Altocumulus, Altostratus itd.) i visoke oblake (Cirrus, Cirrocumulus itd.). No o tome cemo nesto kasnije.
Now, imagine atmosphere to be consisted out of layers (and it really is). Than, imagine a sandwich. Bread is the dry air and the juicy meaty middle is the moist air. What a comparison, eh? Well, these Altocumulus castellanus clouds road ready cases form within the moist air layer (aka the ham in the sandwich) and it 's actually trapped between the dry layer (between two layers of dry air) . Because tops of this cloud cannot develop upwards into the dry layer above and when percipitation occurs road ready cases - it also cannot touch the ground through the dry air. The percipitaion is called virga and what virga is -  road ready cases an observable  streak  or shaft of  precipitation  that falls from a  cloud  but  evaporates road ready cases  or  sublimes  before reaching the ground.  I 've actually spoken with my superior regarding this subject because I couldn't comprehend how these clouds are specifically classified as Altocumulus castellanus road ready cases clouds. They usually have these towers on top and their base is flat. We've both agreed that the claim of these clouds developing into Cumulonimbus clouds is pretty much unreliable. road ready cases That si mply cannot be and no one recalls that happening in our region. Perhaps somewhere near the equator? I have no clue but as you'll see in the images below, a very little amount of jellyfish clouds has these towring parts on their tops. Most of them seem like regular Altocumulus clouds (without the towers) and some are even higher -Cirrus clouds. Whatever the case, they surely are a sight and if I ever do see one -I'll let you know.
